About Margins

Twenty years of fantasy football. Twenty years of engineering. One tool built to actually help you win your league.

I've played fantasy football for twenty years. I watched the tools evolve from magazines at the kitchen table, to printed out spreadsheets marked with neon and black ink, to online draft tools promising to make it easier and help me win my league.

Every tool I tried forced me to use predefined scoring options that never matched my league's actual rules. Early on the issue was static data that needed real time updates. As the tools went online, you had updated info but what about strategy? Sure I can just follow a list but do I need to take a RB or WR here? What about this run of QBs?

Then I had too much information. Online draft tools, Twitter feeds, the group chat were all feeding me information. They all had their spin on my next pick.

I wanted something that could find the signal in the noise, collate the data, apply my strategy, and make the right pick.

Who's building it

I'm Larame Cummings. I've been an engineer for almost twenty years. After college I started my career in the building automation industry developing control systems for HVAC systems. Eventually I ended up at Meta for a decade as an engineering manager.

What I found, like many an engineer, is I like solving problems and building things. I like identifying the problem, collecting the data, building the solution, and testing it over time. All the same principles apply to building Margins which will help others build the best fantasy football team.

Why now

Margins started as a side project in early 2026. In May, I was laid off from Meta. Instead of going straight back to a desk job, I went all in on this instead.

It's just me building it right now. It's been a ton of fun (and challenging) building this in prep for the 2026 football season.
