Frequently asked questions

Answers to the questions people ask most before signing up to Margins, the AI fantasy football draft assistant.

Margins AI

Why not just use ChatGPT or Claude or Gemini?

Those AI chats need a LOT of context to give you solid advice. You'd need to provide it your roster spots, scoring settings, all available players, who's been picked, projected stats, etc for them to come close to providing the advice Margins AI gives.

So what does Margins AI actually run on?

Margins is a fantasy football AI harness built on Anthropic models. It pulls in specific context to provide you with tailored recommendations for your fantasy league. It's not a chatbot with a fantasy skin. It's a layer that loads real league data into the model before it answers. That data includes your draft picks, roster spots, league scoring settings, and player projections and rankings. We add more context routinely to provide the best answers we can.

What does the AI actually know about my league?

When you import and sync your league with Margins, it knows your league's roster spots, score settings, available players, and team rosters.

Margins AI also pulls in full pick by pick draft history, roster need urgency, recent positional trends, your watchlist, bye weeks, news, and injury status.

Does it support custom scoring?

Yes. The projected points you see on screen take your league's score settings and apply them to player stat projections. This means you don't get a generic fantasy point projection, you get one built to your league's score settings.

Is there a limit on questions?

Your only limit is your AI credits. Each time you ask a question it deducts from your monthly allowance. If that is empty, it will deduct from your extra usage credits.

Is Margins AI a real AI assistant, or just rankings with a label?

Yes, it's a conversational fantasy football assistant. It knows your league, your score settings, where you are in the draft, who's been drafted, news, injuries and more. This allows it to give you real advice, not generic fantasy football rhetoric that's not grounded in your league.

Account & Billing

What's included in Free?

All our tools can be accessed with the free account. Some player data like fantasy point projections and ADP only show the top players so you can get a feel for our data. You are able to use the AI tools with a free account, to a certain limit. We give you enough credits to get a feel for how it works. These credits are a one time allowance and will not replenish each month like with a paid subscription.

What happens when I hit my AI usage limit?

You'll still have access to all the tools and data but will not be able to use Margins AI until you have more credits. If you're on a paid plan, you can purchase extra usage credits that never expire, upgrade to a higher tier for a higher monthly allowance, or wait until your next monthly allotment. If you're on a free plan and used up your Margins AI credits, you can upgrade to a paid plan.

How does the monthly allowance reset?

It resets automatically on your billing date each month.

What's a Top-Up / Power Pack?

These are Margins AI credits that can be purchased on top of the monthly allowance. They do not expire or replenish on a monthly cycle.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes! You can manage your subscription in the account menu. Cancelling will stop the auto renewal but you will still be able to use the tool at your current level through the end of your billing cycle. If you bought extra usage credits (Top-Up / Power Pack), those do not expire and can be used on a free plan.

Draft Mechanics

Does Margins host the actual draft or just watch one happening elsewhere?

It can do both. Margins has the ability to host a draft that is in person, online, or a hybrid. It can also sync with your league platform. Drafts in Sleeper can live sync.

What platforms can I import from?

Margins can import and sync from Sleeper and ESPN directly.

Does live sync work for a real draft in Sleeper?

Yes. The picks made in Sleeper are mirrored to Margins in real time. This allows you to use our tools with full context of the draft happening live.

What if my platform isn't listed?

You can always manually sync your league. You can input your league roster spots, score settings, and team names. You then manually sync with a live draft by quickly typing in the drafted players name and hitting enter. This will keep Margins updated so you have full context for our tool suite.

Can I sync a live draft from Sleeper, ESPN, or Yahoo?

Sleeper: Yes! The draft happens on the Sleeper platform. Margins connects to their API and mirrors all the picks in real time. This gives the context to our tools so you can have an edge.

ESPN: Yes, but when syncing a draft held on ESPN, you'll need to enter the picks. We can pull a lot of data from your league like teams, roster spots, and score settings but we need you to enter the picks. We've streamlined this with a quick type and enter interface.

Yahoo: Coming soon.

Does Margins support IDP and Superflex leagues?

Yes. We support individual defensive player (IDP) and Superflex leagues. IDP can be a single any position roster spot or based on specific defensive roster spots. IDP players are given a consensus rank. Superflex leagues get a tailored average draft pick (ADP) to value the importance of quarterbacks in these leagues.
